Butterworth Detectives arrested a 40 year old suspect for alleged rape and murder of a 55 year old woman. It alleged that both suspect and the deceased were from a tavern when the incident happened where the 55-year-old deceased was raped and murdered by the suspect on Thursday 04 February 2016 at about 00:30 midnight at Mnyameni Village Sigangala Location Centane.The case was reported to Centane Police and Butterworth Family Violence, child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. The suspect was subsequently arrested. The suspect was arrested on Friday 11 March 2016 at Lower Cross Road Cape Town.
The suspect is facing charges of rape and murder. The suspect appeared before the Centane Magistrate Court on Monday 14 March 2016 on charges of rape and murder. He was not asked to plead. His case was remanded to Tuesday 05 April 2016 for further investigation. He remained in custody
