EASTERN CAPE - EFF SAYS THEY WILL NOT ENTER INTO ANY COALITIONS WITH ANC OR DA

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Eastern Cape will not entertain any talks of a coalition with the DA and the ANC, its provincial leader EFF MPL member Siyabulela Peter told said yesterday.

“We are not intending to communicate with anyone. We are not intending to make any coalition with anyone. They are the two arrogant organisations, they must deal with it themselves,” he said at the IEC provincial results centre in East London.

Peter said the EFF was firm that it would not align with majority parties.

He said a party that intends on forming any coalition with the EFF would have to agree with the important policies of the party.

The EFF could potentially be a kingmaker in Nelson Mandela Bay.

With 98% of the votes counted for the metro, the party currently has 5.07%, placing it in third place.

Should the ANC and the DA not win the metro outright, the two parties may be looking at going into a coalition with a smaller party.

The DA is currently enjoying a lead of 46.65%. The ANC is following with 40.99%.

Earlier ANC Eastern Cape chairperson Phumulo Masualle accused DA leader Mmusi Maimane of trying to woo smaller political parties into a coalition in the metro.

Maimane had just announced that the DA would win 47% of the votes in the metro.
