PORT ELIZABETH - MANHUNT LAUNCHED FOR 2 ARMED ROBBERS AFTER MISSIONVALE BUSINESS ROBBERY

Port Elizabeth police are searching for two armed suspects, after a 46-year-old foreign national was shot and wounded during a business robbery in Missionvale on Tuesday night.

Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that the owner of the spaza shop was handing bread to a woman outside, when two unknown men attempted to force themselves into the shop. She says a scuffle ensued between the suspects and the owner.

Naidu says shots were fired, and the owner was hit in the stomach and buttocks. He was also assaulted with the gun.

The men took cash, airtime, cigarettes and fled the scene. Naidu says the victim was taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder.
