PLETTENBERG BAY - RESIDENTS URGED TO BE CAUTIOUS FOLLOWING LAST WEEK'S VELD FIRE

Rainy weather over the weekend helped bring a vegetation fire which had been raging in the vicinity of Plettenberg Bay under control.

It’s believed the fire broke out as result of a botched controlled burn.

Nine people had to be evacuated from their homes as the fire threatened their properties on Wednesday.

The Garden Route National Parks spokesperson Nandi Mgwa-Dlamba says: "We’d like you to exercise caution and to just check the weather all the time and watch the control burns that they do or making fire in open places."
