PORT ELIZABETH - MAN GRANTED R5000 BAIL FOR HIT AND RUN WHERE CHILD GOT DRAGGED IN BLOEMENDAL

A 26-year-old man arrested in connection with death of a 4-year-old boy after a hit and run incident has been released on 5000 rand bail.

Curtis Felkers appeared in the Gelvandale Magistrates Court on Monday on five charges including culpable homicide, failing to stop after an accident and driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver's licence.Police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu says the incident took place in Bloemendal on Saturday afternoon

She says the child and his mother were on their way back from a funeral and were getting into a taxi when a Blue Golf, travelling at high speed collided with the child.The four-year-old, Orlando Du Plessis, was dragged for a few meters before the vehicle sped off.

Naidu says according to eye witnesses there were two men and a woman in the car.

Felkers is due to appear back in court on the 13th of October.
