PORT ELIZABETH - POLICE BRING JUSTICE TO THE MOUNT ROAD CLUSTER WITH 163 ARRESTS OVER THE WEEKEND


Between Friday 16 September and Monday 19 September, a total of 163 suspects were arrested in the  Mount Road Cluster on various charges including murder, attempted murder, house robbery and possession of drugs.

Various successes were achieved during this weekend, 16 to 19 September 2016, in the Mount Road policing cluster. A total of 163 suspects were arrested for various crimes including possession of drugs, robbery, drunken driving, possession of suspected stolen property, murder, attempted murder, theft from motor vehicle, house robbery, unlawful possession of firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

All arrested persons are expected to appear in court soon.

A total of 13 arrests were made on drug-related cases in the entire cluster for the weekend. Suspects were charged for either possession of drugs or dealing in drugs. The arrests were effected during routine patrols and stop-and-search operations.

The successes can be attributed to a constant police presence and vigilance in the areas, sound intelligence as well as good networking between the communities and the police.
