DESPATCH - BURGLARS CAUGHT REDHANDED AFTER CRASHING THEIR CAR INTO A HOUSE WALL


Yesterday, 27 October 2016 around 11:00, three suspected burglars were arrested after crashing their getaway car into a perimeter wall of a house in Hollard, Street, Despatch.

The incident occurred after the police vehicle was dispatched into a complaint of housebreaking in progress at Freesia Street, Azalia Park in Despatch with a full description of suspects and their vehicle, a white Hyundai. Police on their way to the scene, spotted a vehicle in the Main Street of Despatch and gave chase.

The driver of a vehicle seemed to have lost control and collided with a wall. The four occupants absconded after crashing, and three were arrested after a search. A plasma television set stolen from the house was found inside the vehicle.

A vehicle which was from a rental company was impounded for further investigation. A fourth suspect is still at large.

The men, aged between 23 and 25 years, are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Monday, 31 October 2016 for possession of stolen property and housebreaking and theft.
