PORT ELIZABETH - 'DONDOLLOS' GANG MEMBER GETS 10 YEAR SENTENCE FOR SHOOTING TEEN IN HELENVALE

A 28 year old gang member from Gelvandale was sentenced today in the Port Elizabeth Regional court for attempted murder.

On 27 June 2015, Marius Tarrentaal fired several shots at a 19 year old teenager in Fitchard Street in Helenvale. The victim saw the accused approaching him and he started running. One bullet hit the teenager in his back. In December 2015, Tarrentaal was arrested in Fitchard Street by members of the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit. He remained in custody until the finalisation of the case.

On 17 November 2016, he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment of which 3 years is suspended for four years therefore he will effectively serve seven years in prison for attempted murder

Tarrentaal is a member of the Dondollos gang which is an affiliate to the Upstand Dogs.

This is now the fifth case in this month where gang members from the Northern areas have been sent to prison for gang related crimes.
