Motherwell Cluster Police in the wee hours of 22 December conducted a suspect tracing operation.
Thirty-one sought suspects were arrested for a range of serious offences. While on this operation, a truck was hijacked at Port Elizabeth harbour. Members of the hijacking task team that were part of the operation responded and managed to recover the truck in a busy area close to John Talant Road.
Four new VW Amarok vehicles were still on the truck. It is suspected that the suspects abandoned the vehicle out of fear of being arrested. The total value of vehicles recovered is estimated at R2.5 million. No arrests yet and Police investigations continue.
