A man mauled by two pitbulls in Rowallan Park on Saturday is scheduled to have his arm amputated this morning.
Health Department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said on Sunday the man was fighting for his life in Livingstone Hospital after having an emergency operation on Saturday.
The other man who was bitten when he tried to intervene was discharged from hospital on Saturday.
Kupelo said ambulance personnel who were at the scene reported that two dogs escaped from a garden and attacked a man walking by.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said on Saturday that the circumstances of the attack were still being investigated.
She said the dogs’s owner was not at home at the time of the incident.
