EASTERN CAPE - PROVINCE TO GET MUCH NEEDED R77 MILLION BOOST FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL RECRUITMENT

The Eastern Cape Health Department has put aside R77 million for recruiting medical specialists and general workers to fill vacancies in over
300 health facilities in the province.

Health MEC, Dr Pumza Dyantyi says the department is targeting to recruit critical skills in the health service such as Midwives, Gynaecologists and Rheumatologists this financial year.

Dyantyi says they are focusing on improving their services across the provinces.

“Our key area will be specialities, whether it's your medical, nursing specialities in particular the ones that are dealing with obstetrical gynaecologist because that is where our litigations come from mostly. But we are concentrating also on the neonatal side. We are also concentrating on getting theatre nurses, so we can have our theatres working. I cannot talk for and say we are going to have 20 or 40.”
