UITENHAGE - MAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO ROB FRUIT & VEG THEN FALLS THROUGH BUILDERS EXPRESS ROOF
An alleged burglar was arrested after falling through a Uitenhage shop roof while attempting to flee from police.
Boy Zulu, 41, appeared in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of burglary and theft after being arrested when he fell through the roof of Builders Express in Queen Mary Square shortly before 4am on Monday.
Police spokeswoman Captain Gerda Swart said a passing security vehicle spotted the suspect and alerted police.
“The suspect was spotted on the roof of Fruit and Veg City while attempting to break through the roof. While trying to flee, he ran onto the adjacent building and fell through the roof of Builders Express,” she said.
Zulu remains in custody and will appear in court today.
