EASTERN CAPE - FAMILY MEMBER ARRESTED AFTER GRANDMOTHER FATALLY STABBED

Thorough and responsive investigation of crime through the 72-hour Activation Plan has yielded applaudable results in the Ngcobo murder.  It is alleged that on 1st February 2019 between 09:00 and 11:00, the body of an elderly woman was discovered by the neigbour and family member at Bojane A/A Madladleni location in Ngcobo.

It is alleged that the deceased, Nolusapho Ntsenge was alone at her homestead after her grandchildren had gone to school in the morning.

On returning from school, the 9-year-old girl found the rondavel locked and knocked with no response from the grandmother.

A neighbour was called who on arrival kicked the door open and found the deceased with a stab wound on the upper body. A knife suspected to be the murder weapons was found at the scene.  The 72-hour Activation Plan was immediately activated and the team managed to arrest one of the family members on 2nd February 2019 at the same village. A case of murder has been registered and possibility of further charges to be added can’t be ruled out.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga has applauded the team for the arrest of the suspect. "We are satisfied with the swift arrest of the suspect as this is what the 72-hour Activation Plan is about and what our communities expect from us. We are committed in ridding our communities of gender base violence and we will bring to book all those who continue to terrorise and attack women and children.
