A 47-year-old Port Elizabeth man was killed and another man was wounded when gunmen attacked a furniture truck in Zwide on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the incident occurred in Ngona Street just before 11 am when the driver of a furniture truck stopped at a house to a make a delivery.
She says the driver of a bakkie which had been escorting the delivery truck was shot in the head by three men who took his bakkie and a gas pistol.
The vehicle was found abandoned a short distance away.
Naidu said during the shooting a 51-year-old man who was helping to off-load the goods from the truck was hit by a bullet in the stomach and taken to hospital in critical condition.
"Nothing was taken and police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. Police suspect that the motive for the shootings is robbery," she said.
