Police in Port Elizabeth are investigating a case of housebreaking after a house was ransacked in Salvia Crescent in Linton Grange.Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the incident happened on Sunday evening when the homeowners went out.
She says upon their return at about 9 pm they saw that someone gained entry into their house through the roof.
Naidu says it is suspected that the family pet, a pit bull, was sprayed with pepper spray before he was locked inside one of the bedrooms.
The suspects then ransacked the house and stole several items with a total value of R37 000.
Naidu says the stolen items included a TV, play station, clothing and several other household goods.
No arrests have been made.
