Police in Kirkwood have opened up an inquest docket following the death of an infant at a creche in town.Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says it is alleged that a 6-month-old baby boy was inside a cot at a creche in Mark Street when one of the employees noticed that the child was not moving.
He says staff rushed the baby to the nearest doctor's surgery, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The child was being looked after at the Winnie Pooh daycare centre.
Nkohli says an autopsy will be conducted to determine the infant's exact cause of death.
