PORT ELIZABETH - MAN'S BODY FOUND ON MALABAR STREET WITH MULTIPLE BITE WOUNDS ON THE FACE


Gelvandale Police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a 48-year-old man was found with multiple dog bites in Armstrong Street, Malabar.

It is alleged that on Friday, 27 September 2019 at about 07:00 SAPS Gelvandale responded to a complaint of a body lying in Armstrong Street, Malabar.  Upon arrival the members noticed that the deceased Melvin Stuurman had multiple bite wounds on the face.  At this stage, circumstances surrounding the attack and subsequent death is unclear. However, while police were still processing the crime scene, they followed up on information of a woman washing dogs in Malabar, not far from the crime scene.

Port Elizabeth Animal Anti Cruelty League was roped in to assist and the three pitbulls found on the premises were removed pending the investigation.

A post mortem will be done to determine cause of death.
