On Saturday, 25 July 2020 at about 14:50, SAPS Mount Road Crime Prevention members were performing duties in civilian clothing when they noticed a woman running down Govan Mbeki Road.
She was stopped and questioned.
The woman informed them that she spotted the man who robbed her on the 15 July 2020 at Pier 14 of her cellphone.
She gave the description and the direction in which the suspect fled. Immediately the members went in search of the suspect.
The suspect was seen jumping into a taxi.
The taxi was located and stopped.
The suspect fitting the description was apprehended.
The 56-year-old was arrested and positively identified by the complainant.
He was detained on a charge of robbery and is expected to appear in court on Monday, 27 July 2020.
