Eight people have been killed in three separate accidents in the Eastern Cape last night.
Provincial Traffic Spokesperson Charles Bramwell says the first accident took place on the R346 between King Williams Town and Stutterheim on Tuesday night. A Toyota Tazz had a tyre burst and collided with a Corolla. A man and woman was killed.
On the same stretch of road in the early hours of Wednesday morning, five people were killed when an Opel Corsa overturned and rolled several times.
Bramwell says the third accident was on the R61 near Cradock on Tuesday night.
"On the R61 between Cradock and Tarkastad we had another accident where a Toyota minibus travelling towards Mthatha collided head on with a Toyota Corolla which was travelling towards Cradock. In the minibus we had two injuries, but the driver was killed on impact" he said.
