PORT ELIZABETH - COUNTERFEIT GOODS WORTH OVER R500 000 SEIZED

Four people were arrested in Port Elizabeth on Monday for allegedly being in possession of counterfeit goods, mandrax and prescription drugs.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said members of the National Intervention Unit from Mthatha and the Tactical Response Team were executing a search warrant when they raided a house in Bethelsdorp.

She says they recovered over 500 pairs of name brand takkies valued at over R226 000, 48 000 prescription pain pills, Stopayne, with an estimated value of R241 000 rand and more than 3000 Mandrax tablets with a street value at R154 000.

Colonel Naidu said an amount of cash was also seized during the raid.

The suspects are due to appear in court soon.
