Two gangsters were arrested by the Gang Task Team detectives for alleged crimes committed in the Gelvandale area.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 3 January 2016 at about 20:00, 4 men were standing at a block of flats in Shauderville when they noticed a vehicle dropping off two men. The men walked in the direction of the group and starting shooting at them. One person was shot in his right upper leg. The suspects then ran off. One of the suspect’s is known to the complainant. The following day, 4 January 2016, the Gang Task team arrested a 21 year old man in Van Duuren Street in Gelvandale.
The suspect has been linked to a case of murder which allegedly took place at 17:30 on 18 December 2015 in Kemdrick Street Gelvandale. Four occupants driving in a Ford Laser started randomly shooting at people. A bullet struck a 24 year old victim in his back. Ferdinand Gysman died in Livingstone hospital. One of the suspect’s was identified by witnesses.
The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrate court on Wednesday, 6 January 2016 on a charge of attempted murder and murder.
In a separate incident, a 30 year old man appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrate court on 30 December 2015 on a charge of attempted murder. The Gang Task Team arrested him for a shooting incident which took place in November 2015 in Gelvandale. Anthony Ruiters@Nabbas will appear in court again on 8 January 2016 for a formal bail application.
Police are appealing to the communities in the Northern areas to come forward and report criminals who are continuously instilling fear in the lives of the law abiding citizens.
