PORT ELIZABETH - ANC IN TALKS WITH OTHER PARTIES TO TRY AND TAKE BACK NELSON MANDELA BAY METRO

The African National Congress (ANC) is in critical talks with several parties to try and govern the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) received 47 percent support in the municipal elections and needs four seats to govern the Metro.

The ANC needs eleven seats. ANC Eastern Cape Secretary Oscar Mabuyane, the United Democratic Movement (UDM)'s Regional Secretary Mongameli Bobani and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)'s Bo Madwara say they have been tied in talk to form a coalition.

“We are talking to other organisations. We are open minded but at the same time we are also ready to work on the other side of the bench as the opposition just to ensure that the interest of the people of Nelson Mandela Bay are well represented, effectively. 2. We are now at negotiations with different parties and I'm telling you that probably tomorrow or so an announcement will be made however our national leadership is handling the matter.  If any party is willing to comply with our manifesto calls and the seven cardinal pillars, our doors remain open.”
