PORT ELIZABETH - PE HIGH COURT POSTPONES PANAYIOTOU PRE-TRIAL HEARING

The pre-trial court hearing of Christopher Panayiotou has been postponed to the 5th September.

Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating the murder of his schoolteacher wife‚ Jayde, in April last year, allegedly because she was a "financial burden".

This after Panayiotou and his three co accused made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth High Court.

It was the first time that the four men all appeared in court together.

State prosecutor Marius Stander asked for the trial to be postponed as not all the documentation had been handed in.

Advocate Hanlie Bakker agreed with the postponement, citing that her client and second suspect, Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, was also medically unfit for proceedings.

She told the court she was made aware of his condition only on Tuesday and asked for her client to be moved to a separate jail cell as he shares it with co-accused, Sinethemba Nenembe.

The State says the official trial date has been set for October 3.
