PORT ELIZABETH - MAN SHOT TWICE IN BETHELSDORP AFTER ASKING FOR A 'LIGHT FOR HIS CIGARETTE'


On Saturday, 17 September 2016, at about 23:45, a 23-year-old man was shot twice in the shoulder and hand while in Melkbos Street, Bethelsdorp.

It is alleged that the victim asked a known person for a light for his cigarette and as he turned around, the suspect fired at him.

The victim was with his girlfriend. At about 01:00 on 18 September 2016 the Port Elizabeth Police intervention team arrested the 23 year old suspect in Jenneker Street. He is expected to appear in court soon.
