PORT ELIZABETH - HIJACKED TRUCK ABANDONED IN UITENHAGE AFTER R750000 CARGO STOLEN & OFFLOADED IN HANKEY

Last night, Wednesday, 15 March 2017 at about 20:30, a Nissan truck with a trailer transporting groceries cargo that was destined for East London, was allegedly hijacked before Port Alfred by six armed men.

One of the suspects took control over the truck and drove towards Hankey in Humansdorp. The driver of the truck was dropped off in Despatch by the other suspects. The cargo (groceries) on the truck was off-loaded at a home in Splinter Street, Hankey before the suspects drove with the truck towards Port Elizabeth where they have abandoned the truck in Rocklands, Uitenhage at about 01:00, this morning.

Police in Uitenhage recovered the truck and all the necessary role players were activated. Hankey police and the PE hijacking task team recovered the truck's cargo valued at R750 000 at the address in Hankey. Detectives are following up on leads and arrests are imminent. Cases of hijacking and possession of suspected stolen goods are under investigation.
