PORT ELIZABETH - MAN ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING 14 YEAR OLD IN HELENVALE

A 24-year old man has been arrested, following a shooting incident in Helenvale, Port Elizabeth at the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Col Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that a 14-year old was walking towards Fitchard Steet with a friend on Saturday, when they heard the sound of a gunshot.

She says as the boys started running, the victim felt a burning sensation in his back.

He ran into a house in Old Standford Road.

Naidu says he sustained a gunshot wound to the back, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

She says the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit arrested the suspect on Sunday morning.

He will appear in court on Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder.
