UITENHAGE - POLICE APPREHEND CAR THIEVES IN KWANOBUHLE

Members on patrol in Kwanobuhle station area apprehended two suspected car thieves at 08:15 yesterday morning, Tuesday, 28 February 2017, following the theft of a motor vehicle in Enwright Street, Uitenhage at 05:00 yesterday morning.

The vehicle, a City Golf, was reported as stolen to the Uitenhage police station and it was circulated by the 10111 Centre minutes later.  Members on patrol in Kwanobuhle noticed the vehicle driving in Msidare Street, Kwanobuhle and pulled them over and arrested two suspects, both 24-years-old, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen vehicle.

The Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) has taken over the investigation and the two suspects are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday, 2 March 2017 on a charge of possession of suspected stolen vehicle and the Uitenhage case of theft of motor vehicle.

Uitenhage Station Commander, Brigadier Laurence Soekoe commended the Kwanobuhle police officials for the good work and VIS will follow up with the investigation to determine if the suspects could be linked to previous theft of motor vehicle cases in the area.
