PORT ELIZABETH - TEEN SPOTBOUERS GANG MEMBER GUILTY OF MURDER & ROBBERY

A 17-year-old teenager affiliated to the Spotbouers gang was found guilty today in the Port Elizabeth Regional court on charges of murder, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

On Monday, 12 June 2017 at about 15:30, the victim Ralph Vorster (35) and his taxi conductor were driving a taxi and stopped in Barberry Drive in Bethelsdorp where they picked up two passengers. While still driving in the same street, the accused pulled out a firearm and ordered the conductor to get out and run. Vorster was shot several times and was later found lying outside his taxi by the conductor.

Two months later, the teenager was arrested by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit (Gang Investigations). He remains in custody until his sentencing which is on 29 March 2019.
