EASTERN CAPE - STOCK THEFT SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER 78 SHEEP STOLEN


Seventy eight (78) sheep were reported stolen at Cathcart police station over the weekend.

 At 04h30 am today, Queenstown Stock Theft Unit followed information about the missing stolen stock at Sada Township where one sheep carcass was recovered from a male suspects and another five (5) sheep were recovered from the home of a second suspect.

Both suspects aged between 28 and 38 years were charged for stock theft and their first appearance will be at Cathcart Magistrates' Court on the 28 March 2019.

The recovered stock has been positively identified by the complainant and handed over. Operation will continue tomorrow until the rest of the sheep have been recovered.

Eastern Cape acting Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Thembeka Dyantyi welcomed the breakthrough. "Our operations must break the backbone of stock theft," she said.
