PORT ELIZABETH - 2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER THEY ROB AND SHOOT VICTIM 3 TIMES IN KWADWESI

 Swift police response resulted in the arrests of two suspects and the confiscation of a firearm, after an attempted murder of a 33-year-old male in Joe Slovo West, Kwadwesi.

This followed after the 33 year old male victim was at his home in Vuzi Street, Joe Slovo West, Kwadwesi, when three armed suspects entered at 23:00 and robbed him of personal belongings. In the process, he was shot three times by the suspects after which they fled the scene on foot. The victim was rushed by his family to hospital and the police notified.

Swift response by police resulted in the first arrest this morning at 01:00, of a 33-year-old male in Joe Slovo. He is charged with attempted murder and house robbery. Further follow up lead police to a house in Connacher Street, New Brighton, where a 28-year-old suspect was also arrested and a 9mm pistol with a magazine and seven (7) rounds of ammunition was confiscated after a search of the ceiling of the house. The firearm was found with its serial number removed and will be sent for forensic and ballistic analysis. This suspect was charged for attempted murder, house robbery as well as the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The Motherwell Cluster Commander applauded the swift arrests of the suspects and the recovery of an illegal firearm and said "SAPS will continue to focus on unlicensed fire arms and the crimes committed using these firearms. Our community must take a stand against these suspects and supply police with the information about them (suspects) and also about where these firearms are kept."

Both suspects will appear before the New Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday 25 March 2019 to face the charges against them.
