PORT ELIZABETH - DRUGS WORTH R700 000 SEIZED IN BLOEMENDAL GARAGE DURING RAID

 Anti-Gang Unit members in Port Elizabeth arrested a 47-year-old gang member and confiscated drugs with a total estimated street value of R700 000-00 today.


It is alleged that at about 12:00, a search warrant was executed at a house in Didloft Street in Bloemendal. 

On searching the house, a large quantity of drugs were found hidden in the garage. 

Police seized 1545 mandrax tablets, mandrax powder weighing 290.5 grams, 7 packets of cocaine weighing 715.5grams and tik weighing 714grams.

The suspect was detained on a charge of dealing in drugs and is expected to appear in court soon.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga has welcomed the successful drug bust and seizure. 

‘The scourge of drugs and gangsterism is threatening the safety and security of many communities therefore targeted policing actions and cooperation from the communities must be conducted in order to cripple and close down the drug trade.  We cannot and will not stand back and allow our neighbourhoods to be controlled by these drug traffickers,’ added Lt Gen Ntshinga.
